In today’s world, where communities are expected to take proactive roles in disaster preparedness, Alt Design Office has been working closely with local governments and community leaders in Fukutomi, a district in Higashihiroshima City, to build sustainable, community-led disaster response systems.
Most recently, we collaborated with a local filmmaker who is also a resident, and organized a workshop centered on children’s participation. This initiative was featured in the March 22 editions of Chugoku Shimbun and Pressnet, a prominent local paper.
At Alt Design Office, we embrace a broad view of design—extending beyond digital media to include community design. Understanding real-world behaviors and social dynamics is key to what we do, especially in improving website conversions (such as increasing inquiries and document requests). We see this cross-pollination between digital platforms and physical communities as essential to optimizing society as a whole.
Rather than isolating digital or real-world solutions, our mission is to bridge the two—to use digital tools to enhance real-world outcomes. Looking ahead, we aim to work not only with governments and academic institutions, but also with private sector partners to create systems that make community engagement and social optimization through design more scalable and sustainable.
We appreciate your continued support, and if you’re interested in our approach to improving digital platforms and community design, feel free to contact us for a free consultation.
