In recent years, from the perspective of ESG/SDGs with a focus on sustainability, business corporations have increasingly been required to establish concrete management visions.
At the same time, we have received a growing number of requests for creative works related to the SDGs.
Accordingly, under the corporate policy of “striving to create websites accessible to everyone without difficulty,” our company has been holding in-house study sessions on Color Universal Design since 2021.
This time, leveraging our status as an authorized overseas examination organization of the Japan Color Certification Association, four members—including two directors and two designers, some residing in Thailand—have taken the qualification exam for the “Universal Color Advisor” certification.
We are pleased to announce that all candidates have successfully passed the examination.
Moreover, one candidate achieved a perfect score and was awarded the Japan Color Certification Association Encouragement Award!
Going forward, we will continue to leverage our expertise and experience in web accessibility—one of our company’s strengths—to provide designs that consider color vision diversity and are more accessible to a wider range of users.
About the Universal Color Advisor
It is estimated that in Japan, approximately 1 in 20 men and 1 in 500 women—totaling around 3 million people—have difficulty distinguishing certain color combinations.
For such individuals, railway route maps that appear to be clearly color-coded, warning signs, and pilot lamps indicating power ON/OFF may appear in similar colors, making them difficult to distinguish.
Additionally, color vision can change due to aging-related eye conditions such as cataracts, resulting in an increased number of colors that are difficult to distinguish.
As society continues to age, these issues are expected to become even more prevalent.
This certification aims to realize a society where everyone involved with color possesses accurate knowledge of color vision diversity and can demonstrate consideration accordingly. Since 2019, the certification has been conducted across all prefectures in Japan.
